NAREB connects with the community by providing first time home buyer education and counseling.

NAREB’s members works closely with NID housing counseling agency to present education and information pertinent to the first time home buyer process. They provide group as well as individual counseling, helping families to prepare to purchase a home or evaluate their readiness to do so. community residents are given the information to determine the services they need from industry professionals who will be offering such services as mortgages, home inspections, contractors for providing repair estimates, insurance agents for title and homeowners insurance, as well as other required or necessary services, to them.

Special programs:

Theoretically special programs are provided by government agencies to facilitate affordable housing for professionals working in certain disciplines or who need to live within certain limits of their places of employment. One such program currently being heavily promoted by NAREB and its membership is the good neighbor next to program which allows emergency workers specifically police firemen emergency medical technicians and nurses and teachers came through 12th grade to be able to acquire specific properties in specific locations at a 50% discount off the fair market value. This provides an exciting and affordable opportunity for individuals in these careers who are interested in becoming homeowners. However they must also be first-time homebuyers.
